Find the Battersea street signs

Until 28 February, Wandsworth Borough Council is inviting additions to its local listing of distinctive buildings and other elements of our built environment. They – and the Battersea Society – particularly welcome identification of historic street signs. A programme is planned to refurbish at least some of these and we see this as a great opportunity to underscore the Battersea identity. Nothing against Wandsworth – we just want to let people know they’re not in Clapham.

To add to the inventory, access the consultation website here Scroll down to the “Have your say” but add a pin to the map. Identify the cross street in your description and, ideally, upload a photo you’ve taken.

And plaques, post boxes and boundary markers, as well as buildings

We are also keen to add to our inventory of commemorative plaques, historic post boxes and boundary markers. So when you are out and about, snap any of these you see as well.

For a list of street signs previously added to the local listings, click here, but there’s no harm in duplicating nominations. Any duplicates will be filtered out in the review process. So get walking.
