The Horseman by Tim Pears.   A beautiful, hypnotic pastoral novel set in rural Devon, pre-WWI England and reminiscent of Thomas Hardy, The Horseman is about an unexpected friendship between two children.  It’s a tale of an unlikely friendship and the loss of innocence that builds with a hypnotic power whilst evoking the realities of agricultural life.  The first in a trilogy.
