Commemorative Plaque Unveiling to Hanna & Patrick Barrington

  • 77 Dorothy Road London, England, SW11 2JJ United Kingdom (map)

Hanna was a Viennese Jewish communist who escaped the Nazis and Patrick was a Guyanese artist whose paintings hang in the National Gallery and the UN HQ.

Hanna went to Guyana to support Dr Cheddi and Jane Jagen who became Prime Minister and President respectively in Guyana when they were campaigning in the 50s.

She and Patrick ran the Corkscrew wine bar in 70s from which Hanna famously ejected Sarah Fergusson.

She also was a great support to the Gay Switchboard by accommodating LGBT people.

Speakers include their obituarists, Guyanese and communist friends.
