An Extraordinary Railway Landscape: the Story of Clapham Junction 1863-2025

An Extraordinary Railway Landscape: the Story of Clapham Junction 1863-2025

Clapham Junction is a phenomenon, a mis-named piece of railway infrastructure which has become a household name not just locally but nationally and internationally. As well as employing generations of railwaymen, the Junction has attracted the attention of historians and architects; has featured in literature, music and film, and at various times has been cited as one of the busiest stations in the world. 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway, a fitting occasion to learn more about the origins and development of the Junction over 162 years, including its relationship with Battersea (where it is situated) and Clapham (where it isn't!)

Entrance £5 per person, payable on the door or in advance online . The talk starts at 7pm
