Shillington Park Festival

On the hottest day of the year, Saturday 9 September, the Battersea Society joined other local community organisations to promote the ‘Love where you live’ message. Held in Shillington Park, the festival attracted many local families, despite the sweltering heat. As our stall was tucked away in the playground of Sacred Heart School, we didn’t meet up with as many members as we had hoped – but there’s always next year!

As the events coordinator for Enable (who manage open spaces for Wandsworth Borough Council) wrote afterward, "This is the first year that our local community has been able to get together at an event since the Falcon Road Festival. It is clear that everyone missed the camaraderie, and we have received lots of very complimentary feedback on how much they enjoyed themselves.”

Participating in events such as this is one of the ways that the Battersea Society engages with the local community.
