The Battersea Society hosted a public meeting to which the five Constituency London Assembly Member candidates for Merton and Wandsworth were invited: Leonie Cooper – Labour and Co-operative Party; Ellie Cox – The Conservative Party; Tania Marszalek – Reform UK; Pippa Maslin – Green Party; Sue Wixley – Liberal Democrat. Held on April 18 at St. Peter’s Church on Plough Road, all but the candidate for for Reform UK were there to present their views.

Julia Bott and Richard Fox co-chaired the event which was well attended, with about fifty local people there to listen and be heard.

A range of questions were fielded from the floor, reflecting local concerns, including: affordable housing; levels of policing; safety of women and girls; ULEZ. The evening was informative and good-natured and concluded with a lively summary from each of the four candidates.

London Assembly members investigate issues affecting London, question the Mayor 10 times a year at Mayor's Question Time, conduct public meetings and more.  Our representative will be chosen in the local elections on 2 May.  Don’t forget to vote!
