The developer in charge of Battersea Power Station has insisted an image showing a new design of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's Grade II* listed masterpiece is only a "work in progress".
Treasury Holdings (TH), said the image, which circulated on some websites and newspapers was not necessarily the final image developers will submit to Wandsworth Council along with its planning application this summer.
The design shows a curving glass roof set between trhe chimneys and a number of medium-riase apartment and office blocks.
But a TH spokesman said: "It is not the final image, only an idea that we are looking at, a work in progress. We will finalise the design next month."
Last month TH shelved plans for a 250-metre eco-chimney after opposition from residents and heritage groups.
Keith Garner of the Battersea Power Station Community Group dismissed the latest image as time-wasting. He said: "It is just a doodle and shouldn't be taken seriously. Let's wait for the planning application."
