Urgent appeal for funds from Ralph West Hall campaigners
Keith Garner
Director
Ralph West Hall Protection Society
The Directors of the Ralph West Hall Site Protection Society Ltd are issuing an urgent appeal for funds. We need money to bring a legal challenge against Wandsworth Council for its decision in 2008 to allow the redevelopment of the Ralph West Hall site in Albert Bridge Road.
The planning application by Renaissance Lifecare will involve the demolition of the existing building (pictured above right) and the construction of a new building nearly three times as large. Several protected trees will have to be cut down to make way for the new building.
The planning application was opposed by the Battersea Society and over two hundred local residents, as well as Wandsworth Council’s own Conservation Areas Advisory Committee and the three Ward councillors.
The appeal must be launched before the end of March to have a good chance of succeeding. (Monies will be returned if the appeal isn’t launched.)
