The whole Nine Elms area, including the Battersea power Station and new Covent Garden market is labelled an Opportunity Area in the Mayor’s London Plan, with ambitious targets for attracting new housing and new jobs. At the moment however there is no overall framework to which redevelopment can relate. The Society’s Planning Committee has produced a draft development plan with an aim to rectify this situation. We will consult with the Vauxhall Society and the Clapham Society on this plan and also present it to the Battersea Town Centre (Clapham Junction) Partnership Board at one of its meetings early in the New Year. The Society’s observations on the draft development plan can be seen here.
